Brief
Create a museum exhibition catalog on an art movement.

Concept
For this brief, I chose Abstract Expressionism because I had recently taken a bit of an interest in the history of the movement. Pieces from this art movement are created by channeling the subconscious. Because Abstract Expressionism emerged after WWII, many of the artists were expressing their postwar emotions through this painting style, hence the term, "(pain)ting".

Approach
Abstract Expressionism is characterized by gestural brushstrokes as well as utilizing a drip and spatter method. The paintings themselves tend to extend outside of the canvas; they are not limited to the dimensions of the canvas. With this in mind, I wanted to arrange the text and images in a way that pushed the borders of the catalog, mirroring the spirit of Abstract Expressionism.
